How to set up an email account in Opera

1) Open Opera Mail. 
  • If you would like to check the settings on an existing account, skip to step 7. 
  • If you don't have any accounts set up, you'll get a setup wizard to help you - in this case skip to step 3.  
  • Otherwise, to set up a new account click on "Opera Mail in the upper left, then click on the "Mail Accounts" drop down option:

2) Click to add an account:

3) Click to create an email account, then click to continue:

4) Fill in your name, email address, and company name, then click to continue:

5) Fill in your email address, and email password.  Select whether you want to use pop or imap, then click to continue:

6) Select SSL for both incoming and outgoing, an fill in the appropriate hostname for both, then click to finish the setup:

7) If you would like to verify settings on an existing account, Click on "Opera Mail" in the upper left, then click on the "Mail Accounts" dropdown:

8) Select the account in question, then click to modify it:

9) Click on the servers tab, and verify that the settings are as follows:

  • Both incoming and outgoing servers should be your server's hostname
  • Username and password should be the full email address, and the email password
  • Both incoming and outgoing should be using ssl
  • Incoming port should be 993 for IMAP, or 995 for POP
  • Outgoing port should be 587.  (465, or 25 will typically work as well if you have outgoing server issues):
