How to set up an email account on an iPhone

Please follow these instructions to set up an email account using your iPhone. While these steps were taken from an iPhone 5, they should be applicable to most versions iPhone and IOS software.

1) Click on the "Settings" icon, then "Mail, Contacts, Calendars" to begin setting up your email account.

2) Choose "Add Account..." to continue.

3) Choose "Other" to continue.

4) Choose "Add Mail Account" to continue.

5) Enter your account information as follows:

Name: Whatever name you choose

Email: Your email address

Password: Your email password, as configured in your cPanel

Description: Whatever description you choose

Click "Next" to continue.

6) Choose your mail account type.Total Server Solutions supports both IMAP and POP mail accounts. However, we recommend choosing IMAP as it leaves your mail on the server rather than downloading it to your computer, ensuring that you are able to access your mail on multiple devices.

7) Enter your account information as follows:

Incoming Mail Server

Host Name: This is the hostname of the server where your account is set up. You can find this in your Client Area under Services -> My Services -> View Details -> Hostname / Mail Server (for Standard or E-Commerce Web Hosting accounts).

NOTE: If your web hosting account is moved to another server, you will need to reconfigure your mail account with the new server hostname.

User Name: Your email address, as configured in your cPanel

Password: Your email password, as configured in your cPanel

Outgoing Mail Server: Use the same settings as the incoming mail server

Click "Next" to continue.

8) You will be taken back to the "Mail, Contacts, Calendars" screen, where you should see your new email account listed (in this example it was named "HOWH"). Click on the new mail account to continue.

9) Click on the name of the Outgoing Mail Server to set the advanced settings.

10) Make sure that "Use SSL" is ON and "Authentication" is set to "Password."  You may also need to change the server port to "587" if the default setting doesn't work for you (some internet providers will block the default port). Click "Done" to continue.

11) Refer to Step 8 to get back into your new mail account settings, then click "Advanced" to get to the advanced settings for your incoming mail server.

12) Make sure that "Use SSL" is ON and "Authentication" is set to "Password." Click "Done" to complete your new email account setup.

Note that if you already have your email account configured on your iPhone and it's not working properly, you may need to remove it completely and set it up from scratch, as the iPhone may not properly save changes you make to the existing account.  If you have followed these instructions and continue to have trouble, please contact our helpdesk at http://portal.my-tss.com/clientarea.php
